Reading, Lately

I found out that driving across the country gives plenty of time for reading.
And now that I am in Seattle,
I took a quick trip over to the library to get a library card.

Reading, Lately
+ Alone in the Kitchen with an Eggplant : Confessions of Cooking for One and Dining Alone by Jenni Ferrari-Adler
+ Mind Over Medicine: Scientific Proof That You Can Heal Yourself by Lissa Rankin
+ The Northern Heartland Kitchen by Beth Dooley
+ At a Crossroads: Between a Rock and My Parents' Place by Kate T. Williamson
+ The Tapping Solution: A Revolutionary System for Stress-Free Living by Nick Ortner
+ The Encyclopedia of Bach Flower Therapy by Mechthild Scheffer
+ What I Talk About When I Talk About Running by Haruki Murakami

And speaking of reading,
I always like Lauren's Let's Talk About Books series.
What have you been reading lately?
(My favorite book from this year has to be Relish by Lucy Knisley.)

This One Park

“Nothing revives the past so completely as a smell that was once associated with it.”
- Vladimir Nabokov

I used to live a block away from Leif Erikson Park in Duluth, MN.
When I moved in, it was winter.
The roses came that summer.

We stopped by a few weekends ago,
on the way home from Grand Marais.
The park looked just as I remembered,
but the roses looked different. Better.

Artists' Point

We made it to the shore of Lake Superior, and then some.

Also,
Jiro Dreams of Sushi, the best documentary I have seen all year.
+ Ilana Kohn, on sale!
+ Farmers' Market Recipe Generator, planning to try this recipe (minus the soy sauce.)
+ Happy Pho, I highly recommend.
+ 3 Plants, by Brian Ferry.
+ Energy Medicine for Women, back in my reading rotation after a little break.
And lastly, my friend Rand has some new stufffff in his shop. Check it out!

Happy Anniversary

Prom, 1977

Happy Anniversary to my parents,
who celebrated 29 years of marriage yesterday.

I asked my mom for advice on marriage.
Her response: "Hmmm, I don't know.
I've never thought about it really."

Lake Life

Recently Visited Lakes of This Summer
+ Lake Michigan
+ Red Cedar Lake
+ Hemlock Lake

 And soon, Lake Superior.
