We Are Home

"The prairies are all right. The mountains are all right. The forests and the deserts and the clear clean air of the heights, they're all right. But what a bewitching thing is a city of the sea. It was good to be in Seattle--to hear the foghorns on the Sound, and the deep bellow of departing steamers' to feel the creeping fog all around you, the fog that softens things and makes a velvet trance out of nighttime."
- Ernie Pyle

We came and we went and now we are home.
The resting, unpacking, and sorting comes next.
We went for a visit to a school,
but also to meet with friends and family of the long lost variety.

Before we left everyone told me that Seattle tends to be rainy, dreary, foggy, and gray.
But while we were there is was sunny, cold, clear, and bright.
I felt slightly taken aback.

  1. What a beautiful quote to go with your wonderful photo. My guess is Golden Gardens.

  3. Cole, your photography and writing pairing is as always--so perfect. It's funny when places turn out slightly different to what your expectations were. Very much like meeting people who you 'had heard about'.

Hope you had a lovely lovely time :)
